Lips: try filler styles, a lip flip or a lip lift on your own face

Pick a lip filler style and set it in millilitres, try a lip flip in units or a lip lift in millimetres — on a 3D scan of your own face. Then bring specific questions to a qualified clinician.

Lip filler, lip flip and lip lift

Lip filler is a hyaluronic acid gel injected into the lips for more volume or a clearer outline; it is injectable and temporary. A lip flip uses a small dose of botulinum toxin in the muscle above the lip, so the upper lip rolls slightly outward without added volume. A lip lift is surgery under the nose that shortens the skin above the lip, so more of the upper lip shows.

How much, where and which approach, if any, depend on your anatomy and a clinician’s assessment. A lip lift often also shows more of the front teeth at rest, and a lip flip mainly changes the lip when you smile.

In Veylo, lip filler is a style — classic, heart, soft lift or rounded — at an amount in millilitres; the lip flip is set in units and the lip lift in millimetres. Lip edits change only the lips: the nose, eyes and brows stay exactly as they are, and the closed mouth line stays in place.

Four lip filler styles, in millilitres.

Each style places the same filler differently. Pick one and an amount in millilitres. Styles are listed, never ranked or suggested for a face.

  • Classic

Evenly fuller upper and lower lip with a crisper outline; the original proportions are kept.

    Amounts in studies0.5–1 ml
  • Heart (vertical)

Height in the centre of the lips, little forward volume. Often called “Russian lips”.

    Amounts in studies0.8–1.2 ml
  • Soft lift

The upper lip turns slightly outward and the corners rise a little; little volume.

    Amounts in studies0.3–0.7 ml
  • Rounded

Rounder lips with extra fullness in the middle and unchanged corners.

    Amounts in studies0.7–1.5 ml

Shows the result once swelling has settled (2–4 weeks). Lip projection shows best in the side view. A visualization, not a prediction.

Source: 3D and ultrasound study of HA lip filler, Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum. About 1 ml raised the lip border by roughly 1 mm and added about 1 mm of projection; part of the volume fades over the following months.

Upper lip+0.8 mm
Above the lip−0.8 mm

Source: Systematic review of the botulinum toxin lip flip, Archives of Dermatological Research. Protocols mostly used 4–6 units of onabotulinumtoxinA. It mainly changes the lip when smiling; at rest the change is small.

Upper lip+3.3 mm
Lower lip+0.3 mm
Above the lip−3.3 mm

Source: Evidence-based review of lip lift techniques, Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. Pooled studies report the skin above the lip shortened from about 14 mm to 11–12 mm. Real lip lifts often show 2–4 mm more of the front teeth at rest, which a closed-mouth preview cannot show.

What Veylo shows

  • Four lip filler styles, each in ml
  • A lip flip in units and a lip lift in mm
  • Approximate upper and lower lip height, and projection in the side view
  • Lip changes combined with nose or chin treatments in one plan

What only a clinician can tell you

  • Whether filler, a lip flip, a lip lift or nothing is suitable for you
  • How much product and where it would be placed
  • How much more of your teeth or upper lip would show at rest and when smiling
  • Risks, side effects, recovery and how long a change usually lasts

Questions about lips: filler, lip flip & lip lift

Which lip style would suit me?

Veylo cannot tell you that, and it never ranks or suggests styles. Each style is a neutral description of where the filler goes, so you can see it on your own face and ask a clinician about it.

How much lip filler is usual?

As context, studies of a single session mostly used about 0.5 to 1 ml. How much, if any, would be appropriate for you is decided by your clinician.

What is the difference between lip filler and a lip flip?

Filler adds volume. A lip flip adds none: toxin relaxes the muscle above the lip, so it rolls slightly outward — mostly visible when you smile.

Does the preview show my teeth after a lip lift?

No. The preview keeps your mouth closed. Real lip lifts often show 2–4 mm more of the front teeth at rest, which this preview cannot show.

Does Veylo show my result after lip filler?

No. It shows an appearance visualization once swelling has settled. It cannot predict how your tissue responds, how the product settles or how long it lasts.

Can I show it to my clinic?

Yes, if you want. A private, encrypted link opens in any browser, labelled as a patient-created visualization, and can include the questions you picked. It expires, and you can remove access at any time.
